Found: the giant lion-eating chimps of the magic forest
tinyurl.com/2bswe3 [tinyurl.com/2bswe3]
Deep in the Congolese jungle is a band of apes that, according to local legend, kill lions, catch fish and even howl at the moon. Local hunters speak of massive creatures that seem to be some sort of hybrid between a chimp and a gorilla.

Their location at the centre of one of the bloodiest conflicts on the planet, the civil war in the Democratic Republic of Congo, has meant that the mystery apes have been little studied by western scientists. Reaching the region means negotiating the shifting fortunes of warring rebel factions, and the heart of the animals' range is deep in impenetrable forest.

But despite the difficulties, a handful of scientists have succeeded in studying the animals. Early speculation that the apes may be some yeti-like new species or a chimp/gorilla hybrid proved unfounded, but the truth has turned out to be in many ways even more fascinating. They are actually a population of super-sized chimps with a unique culture - and it seems, a taste for big cat flesh....

Another "victory" for cryptozoology!

(Eyes roll and slightly glaze over) Real science, brought to you by the Fortean Times.

The name for people to look up is "Charles Fort"

No, you silly person. That's not the Fortean Times, it's The Guardian. Did you actually read the article? These apes exist, and no matter how much you roll your eyes and play "cleverer-than-thou" they will continue to exist.
Yes, Cryptozoology is a "fortean" topic, but judging from your inane comment, i don't think you actually know what "fortean" means.

Add to that the fact that you've dug up a thread from summer last year so you can ponce about and feel superior.

Sometimes a chimpanzee is just a chimpanzee.

It's more than likely a subspecies of chimp. But this time last year people of certain mindset would have denied that the animals existed at all.

Cute, Dragonhead. Somebody (you?) has edited the comments after the fact, creating the illusion that I was responding to one post which made reference to one article, when in fact I was responding to a now deleted post that linked to another - this thread, at the time of my posting, was on its second page.

Amazing ethics. If this is how you're going to behave, you can count on getting a complaint about this group from me to Stumbleupon. Enough people follow suit, and history suggests that you can kiss your group goodbye.

this thread, at the time of my posting, was on its second page.

If you mean that there were already 10+ comments/posts in this thread before your Feb 1 post, I assure you that you are mistaken. It's not possible.

As for editing one's post after the next has answered it: it can be annoying (or hilarious), but it happens, and quite often it's unintentional.

Complain if you like, but it would be a waste of time. Even if you were correct about these things, they still wouldn't constitute a violation of any SU forum rules whatsoever. My sincere advice would be to lighten up and not take things personally in internet forums. It's a lesson everyone has to learn at some point. :)

6. There are no hidden posts on this thread as far as I can see.

If there is a way for me to edit my first post after you posted 6 months after the fact, then I would be intrigued to find out how it's done.

And then of course, there's the fact that I am neither owner nor moderator of this group and therefore can't hide posts or muck about with threads or any of that stuff.

Would you like a bit of help getting down from that high horse now?

Excuse me?!

Go complain if you like...I own several groups, none of which have ever been deleted...and I have been a member(and sponsor) of stumbleupon for 4 years. Chances are that I would have YOU one step closer to being banned from posting in any forum in the future.

If you wish to continue posting in MY group...I suggest debunking claims with evidence. We know what Dragonhead believes in and he is free to do so in this group. He also happens to be a long time buddy of mine and a damn fine individual.

Oh...and by the way...there are no deleted posts...I would be able to see them...and they are not there.

Edit: Man...that guy is nuts...

I think you should also see this.

The guy is obsessed. Which might be understandable if anything he said was actually correct. But it's not. Which makes it really quite worrying.

You know, I have no problem with people telling me I'm wrong if they can show me something that supports their viewpoint. People getting in a huff because they're wrong and flinging shit all over the place in a self-righteous fury is something else.
